Planting a vineyard, cultivating it until grafting, choosing the varieties, and then guiding it to the first harvest has always been the main goal of my working life.

Planting a vineyard, cultivating it until grafting, choosing the varieties, and then guiding it to the first harvest has always been the main goal of my working life.

Although I have taken on different professional roles over the years, the memory of my first harvest at the age of eight, in the “Serra Aspridda” vineyard—far from the village, reached on foot with my brothers and cousins led by my grandmother Viola—has never left me.

And then my father, stubborn like a true Sardinian, who decided to plant the three-hectare plot he had bought together with my mother… everything started there. My first grafts, still as a child, the long walks of more than five kilometres after school just to spend a few hours working in the family vineyard—my pride. And the vine trenching work, organised with friends as an excuse to celebrate, eat and drink together.

My story begins there.

In 1996 came a turning point: due to unforeseen circumstances, I was “forced” to take over the family business and turn my passion into my profession.

The Francesco Fiori farm was officially established in 1996, focusing on viticulture in the vineyards previously planted by my father. Until the 2003 vintage, the wine was sold in bulk. From that year onwards, bottling began, while still continuing to supply long-standing customers with bulk wine.

The decision to cultivate only native grape varieties comes from a deep connection to authentic Sardinian identity. Having spent some years in Piedmont, I learned to appreciate the unique characteristics of different territories.

Future plans include expanding the small winery located in the village centre and recovering some old vine clones scattered within the original vineyard, such as Cuscusedda, Pascale and Evangelianu (a local synonym of Arvesiniadu).
