Avoiding standardisation and allowing the terroir to express itself freely, without constraints or preconceived oenological ideas.

Viticola Mereu was founded in 2021 in Sorgono, in the Mandrolisai area.

For generations, we have worked the land, cultivated vines and made wine, always guided by a core principle: respect for the land and for the place that hosts us. Avoiding standardisation and allowing the terroir to express itself freely, without constraints or preconceived oenological ideas, is our “resistant” approach.

The vineyards are located at around 700 metres above sea level, with about 90% trained as low bush vines (alberello).

The main grape varieties are those typical of Mandrolisai: Monica, Muristeddu and Cannonau. Smaller percentages include Girò, Moscato, Pascale and Lacconargiu. We also cultivate a small experimental vineyard planted with late-ripening Nebbiolo.

Winter work includes manual pruning and soil tilling. No chemical plant protection products are used.

Harvesting is done by hand. Fermentations take place with indigenous yeasts, using a pied de cuve from the same grapes, without temperature control.

Our wines are neither filtered nor fined.
